Finally I finished my entry for the halloween contest

. It tooks me too long : I was very busy since September and I had to start over several times coloring because I wasn't never satisfied of the result. I am kinda of beginner in digital painting and I want really progress on...
When I was a child, I had a video cassette called "The Snow Queen" (1995) by Martin Gates. I was really fond of this movie because the story was entertaining and very dynamic but mostly because I admired the Snow Queen so much from her beauty to her charism and strengh (She survived twice, one from ice and other from magma). So, when I saw the Halloween contest, the first idea that came to my mind was to make my favourite powerpuff girl Blossom to a "Snow Queen". (Her dress was a little inspired by the Snow Queen (1995)'s dress)
As I was working on this drawing, I began to doubt whether this drawing is really scary or not and if it would not be a bit off-topic because I notice all the time that artworks on Halloween are always based on blood and the color black. So I hesitate many times to post this pic... But thanks to
, I decided finally to submit it. I want to show another way to scare, pinching people's hearts at the sight of a well character turned into a creature unscrupulous and ruthless who rules over her family and counterparts victims of her power : You can see Boomer being pierced belly and turned into an ice statue by the wand of the Snow Queen, Bubbles being also transformed into an ice statue by her unlimited tears, Butch being violently attacked by a somehow snowstorm and Buttercup being unconscious on the snowy ground ; her body being gradually remplaced by the constituants of Blossom's dress ...
Only Brick seems to be the least damaged character. However, if you know the original story of The Snow Queen, I attributed to him the role of the boy who was transformed into a slave by a piece of mirror on his eye and after by a cold kiss from the redoubtable Snow Queen...

I adore the concept behind this. You are so right - Halloween themed pieces don't have to be the typical blood and gore! I like the detail you've included in this piece, it adds depth to your character and a sense of movement to the whole thing. One thing you could focus on in future pieces is facial anatomy. In this one, the eyes are a little off and it distracts from what is otherwise a strong composition. Overall, I really enjoy it and well done!
